The Skinny Fat Guy Who Became a Coach

I was that guy with skinny arms, tiny shoulders, a large waist, fat belly, and man boobs. Being self-conscious about my appearance in my teenage years, I had a complicated relationship with how I looked.

But that insecurity got me into the gym. It motivated me to start lifting weights. And week by week, I saw small improvements. That progress opened up a door to different training methods, styles, research, and education.

I've literally tried every supplement, diet, and training method you can think of. All of it taught me hard lessons—but it also made me a better coach for my clients.

Since 2012, I've been a qualified personal trainer. I've worked in various roles, helping hundreds of clients transform their physiques and lives. From working with academy athletes at Saints RFC and Northampton Town FC to becoming Head PT at a studio in Southampton, I've seen what works—and what doesn't.

In 2023, I moved back to Northamptonshire to launch my online coaching business. Now I get to help people all over the UK (and beyond) cut through the noise, inspire and motivate my clients to achieve the results they've been chasing.

Beyond Coaching & Training

What Motivates Me

Continuous improvement. In both my physical and mental health. The reason I started to train was purely for vanity reasons. Now I train for the benefit it has on my mind.

Getting 1% better every day. Enjoying the journey, seeking new challenges that excite me and push me forward.

What I'm Into

Getting out in nature, going on a hike up a mountain, camping in the middle of nowhere. I've got a VW and love getting out in it for the weekend when I can.

Love live music and festivals. The energy of the atmosphere, sun shining down in the middle of field. Bliss. Memories for life.

Training Philosophy

I generally experiment with different training styles. CrossFit, Bodybuilding, Power Lifting. This year it's been all about running. Doing my first half marathon event and running it 32 minutes faster in a 90 days. Whilst balancing Strength training and my gym routine—proving you don't have to sacrifice one for the other.

 

Now I'm set to complete my first full marathon. I'm a firm believer that training should challenge you and excite you, not feel like a chore.

Just a Normal Dude

I like playing the drums when I get the time. My favourite movie is Lord of The Rings. I could watch The Office US on repeat. Mexican food is my go-to. Aspalls is my favourite cider. I love cookies and brownies. Balance, right?

I'm all about experiences over things. Learning new skills, trying new things, being around good people. Life's too short. I'm also a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing Northampton this year!

Advanced education in programming, periodisation, performance and nutrition.

Level 3 Personal Trainer

Qualified since 2012. Also delivered the Level 3 PT Course as a tutor.

BSc Sports & Exercise Science

Foundation in physiology, biomechanics, and evidence-based training.

Nutritional Advisor

Certified in nutrition coaching to support sustainable fat loss & performance.

Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach. Led training sessions for youth academy players.

Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach. Worked with rugby athletes on performance and injury prevention.

Personal Trainer

Personal training in Northamptonshire delivering 1-2-1 sessions, small group training, classes and bootcamps. In gyms I've operated at DW Sports and Fitness and Trilogy Gym's.
